GX94 News has heard from the Saskatchewan government about a release from CUPE last week claiming the government was considering cutting microbiology lab services at the Yorkton hospital. In a release, the Health Ministry says there’s been an ongoing shortage of staff for over a year, and have been exploring options to make sure services continue, which includes sending specimens to other labs for analysis. The ministry is also looking to recruit specialists in the affected areas.
