Yorkton area farmers are getting a big boost.
Richardson International is doubling the processing capacity at its canola crush plant in Yorkton, to 2.2-million tons, making it the largest in Canada.
Agriculture minister David Marit says the significant investment helps meet a provincial goal of crushing 75 percent of the canola produced in Saskatchewan.
“When you take 1.1-million more tons of canola off of the rail line and put it into crush capacity that’s a good news story for the Province of Saskatchewan and for the farmers,” said Marit.
Construction is to begin immediately with completion set for 2024.
