Vaccine Pilot Project Involving Some Sask. Pharmacies Expected to Start Next Week

A pilot project in which select pharmacies in 14 Saskatchewan communities will be administering COVID-19 vaccines will get underway next week.

It’s expected people can book appointments through participating pharmacies on Monday and vaccines delivered to pharmacies on Thursday.

In a news release, the province says “up to 63 pharmacies will participate in a small-scale rollout to refine distribution and vaccination processes.”

The province says additional pharmacies in more communities will be added as more vaccines are available.

Staff working in pharmacies and stores housing pharmacies that are participating are eligible to get the vaccine.

A list of participating pharmacies will be available on the Government of Saskatchewan website, once these pharmacies are ready to receive bookings.

While pharmacies will be following the age-based vaccination guideline, they will be creating their own booking procedures and awareness campaigns.
