A COVID-19 outbreak at the Bentley Yorkton Retirement Residence was declared April 12, according multiple letters posted onto Revera’s website.
In a letter dated April 27th, Revera’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Rhonda Collins says to date, 5 residents and 3 staff members tested positive for COVID-19.
All of the staff members have recovered.
Collins says “all staff are screened at the beginning and end of each shift, and are required to wear a surgical mask and eye protection in the residence at all times.”
She says “all residents are isolated in their rooms with contact and droplet precautions in place, and are monitored for symptoms twice daily.”
To promote physical distancing, she says “residents are being served meals in their rooms” and “group recreation programming has been replaced by one-on-one activities with residents for social engagement.”
Enhanced cleaning protocols are being followed, such as disinfecting high touch surfaces like handrails and doors, common areas and staff rooms often.
Collins says “residents who have consented and are able to receive a vaccine have gotten their first dose, and eligible staff vaccinations are underway.
Visits have been cancelled during the outbreak, except for essential caregivers.”
