Abernethy Resident Accused of Assaulting RCMP Officers Pleads “Not Guilty”, Has Trial Set for September

Another court appearance has been made by one of two Abernethy residents arrested following a January 2020 incident, involving the alleged assault of police officers.

Around 3 a.m. on January 19, 2020, RCMP were called to an Abernethy home, to deal with a domestic dispute, and when Mounties tried to arrest the man, both suspects became aggressive, allegedly assaulting the officers.

25-year-old Brandon Poorman, has pleaded “not guilty,” to two counts of Assaulting a Peace Officer, and three other charges, and his matters were adjourned for trial, to September 15th in Fort Qu’Appelle.

Last September, 20-year-old Marlee Quewezance pled guilty to Assaulting a Peace Officer, and in March she received an 18-month conditional discharge.
