Seeding Progress Continues in Manitoba’s Northwest Region

Seeding progress in Manitoba sits at 76 percent, just slightly behind the four-year average of 77 percent.

A lack of rainfall has many farmers concerned for germination and timely emergence, since seedbed conditions are rapidly drying.

A few scattered showers in the southwest region amounted to 5 to 7 millimetres around Waskada and south of Riding Mountain National Park.

Northwest Manitoba saw daytime temperatures near 25 degrees early last week, but had overnight lows as cold as minus 7, which prevented canola from getting seeded.
