FSIN: Cowessess First Nation Discovers Hundreds of Burial Sites at the Former Marieval Indian Residential School

Hundreds of burial sites have been discovered at the former Marieval Indian Residential School by the Cowessess First Nation.

That is according to the Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations (FSIN) in a news release, describing it as a “horrific and shocking discovery”.

FSIN also says “the number of unmarked graves will be the most significantly substantial to date in Canada.”

Cowessess First Nation will hold a news conference on the findings tomorrow (Thurs).

The Marieval Indian Residential School operated from 1899 to 1997, and was located about 24 kilometres north of Broadview.
