Evacuations At A Northern Sask. Mine

All non-essential staff at Cameco’s Cigar Lake mine in northern Saskatchewan have been evacuated due to a wildfire burning in the area. Production at the uranium mine has been temporarily suspended with 230 workers being transported off the site. 80 staff remain on the site to maintain the facility, and a plan is in place to evacuate if the wildfire starts spreading closer to the mine. There are currently 18 wildfires burning in Saskatchewan.
