Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Premier Scott Moe, and Cowessess First Nation Chief Cadmus Delorme signed a landmark agreement yesterday, that will see the First Nation take over the responsibility of child and family services for its children in care. It’s the first-ever coordination agreement signed under Bill C-92, and Ottawa will provide 38.7 million dollars over two years, to get the Cowessess child and family services system up and running, with the province providing protection services for Cowessess children living off-reserve, during the transition process.
