Wildfires Continue To Burn Across Saskatchewan, Residents Told To Avoid Travel To The North

The number of wildfires in northern Saskatchewan continues to grow.

The SPSA has issued a SaskAlert asking the public to curtail any non-essential travel to the north.

Many highways have been impacted by the fire or by the smoky conditions, reducing visibility.

There are 137 active fires for a total of 382 so far, which is 170 more than the five year average.

To date, the province is accommodating 63 evacuees in North Battleford and 8 evacuees from Whelan Bay in Prince Albert.
