A Rail Crossing In Yorkton Will Be Upgraded

The flashing light and bell railroad crossing on Highway 9 by Hamilton Road will be upgraded to include a guard. Upgrading the railroad crossing will cost roughly 450-thousand dollars, however, Transport Canada will pay 50% of the costs, while CP will cover 25%. Smart water-metres being installed throughout Yorkton and as a result a couple bylaws are being adjusted. They will add an extra cost to customers who refuse to have a smart meter installed, and if the situation warrants, allowing the city to shut off the water supply to that premise.
