Update on Saskatchewan’s Wildfire Numbers; Crews Continue Efforts to Contain Bell Fire North of Hudson Bay

As of this afternoon (Tues), 129 wildfires are active in Saskatchewan.

Six fires have been contained while 18 are not contained, according to the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency’s Wildfire Status page on its website.

84 fires continue to be assessed for any potential growth and 21 fires are requiring crews to protect property.

There has been a total of 517 fires in Saskatchewan this year, above the five-year average of 243.

Crews continue with perimeter containment on the west end of the Bell Fire, north of Hudson Bay.

Crews are also protecting infrastructure in the area, such as Highway 9 to the east, Highway 55 to the north, Highway 3 to the south as well as Wildcat Hill Provincial Park.

Approximately 30-thousand 482 hectares in size, response to the Bell Fire includes air tanker support, helicopter support, and heavy equipment.
