Court Appearance Made By Carlyle RCMP Officer Charged in Connection to On-Duty Incident Last Year

A Carlyle RCMP officer charged in connection with an on-duty incident last October, has made another court appearance there.

On October 31, 2020, Saskatchewan RCMP say Carlyle Mounties stopped a vehicle in Arcola, where a man in the vehicle was arrested by Constable Dani Zaya.

During the interaction with the man, Zaya allegedly used pepper spray on the man.

A complaint was made to the Carlyle Detachment in November, and following an investigation, Zaya was arrested last month, and charged with one count of Assault with a Weapon.

He remains free on conditions, and will be back in Carlyle Provincial Court on September 8th.
