SHA Reports COVID-19 Exposure at the August 6 Saskatchewan Roughriders Home Game

The Saskatchewan Health Authority says an exposure of COVID-19 occurred at the Saskatchewan Roughriders home game on August 6th.

A person or group of people who were infectious were in the Pil Country Section of Mosaic Stadium in Regina from 5:30 to 11:30 p.m.

Contact tracing is ongoing, and the SHA says anyone who was in attendence at the game, especially in this section, should self-monitor for COVID-19 symptoms until August 20th.

If symptoms develop, or if you already feel unwell or were in contact with a person who was unwell at the game or after the game, the SHA says to self-isolate immediately and seek testing.

The SHA’s definition of self-isolation is “to stay home, avoid contact with anyone who is not fully vaccinated (individuals who are considered fully vaccinated have received two doses of vaccine and are at least two weeks past their second dose), and stay away from work, school, stores, social events and any other public setting.”

The Saskatchewan Roughriders responded to the COVID-19 exposure alert with a statement, which can be read below:

“The Saskatchewan Roughriders were informed by the SHA that at least one fan in Pil Country on August 6th tested positive for COVID-19. We wish this person a smooth recovery.

Anyone feeling unwell should stay home from our games and check their symptoms on the Government of Saskatchewan website to determine if a COVID-19 test is required. We continue to encourage fans to get vaccinated and wear masks to Mosaic Stadium as these are some of the best methods to protect oneself from the virus.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders worked closely with provincial health officials throughout the spring and summer and followed their recommendations as we re-opened Mosaic Stadium to our fans. We will continue to rely on their expertise and guidance going forward.”
