Major rainfall is expected in parts of Manitoba over the next three to five days, and the provincial government has issued a precautionary overland flooding warning for several areas,
The warning was issued for rivers and creeks in southwest Manitoba, including those in the Brandon, Melita, and Virden areas, along with central Manitoba and the Interlake region, including the Fisher and Icelandic Rivers, as the province says as much as 100 to 150 millimeters of precipitation could fall between today and Wednesday.
Severe thunderstorms may also occur in these areas, likely either tomorrow or Monday, with the heavy rain creating the potential for flash flooding.
Residents in these areas are being reminded to be aware of sudden rising water levels in creeks and urban drainage ditches.
