Manitoba’s Independent Investigation Unit Concludes Investigation into a Man’s Death in Police Custody

Manitoba’s Independent Investigation Unit released their conclusion regarding the death of a male in police custody.

On October 30th, 2020, RCMP officers were dispatched to the Ebb and Flow First Nation, on a report of a man threatening workers with a machete.

The suspect was taken into custody and he collapsed at the RCMP detachment.

After being transported to Ste. Rose Hospital, the male was declared deceased.

The IIU stated that the cause of death was due to cardiac arrhythmia, due to an extremely high amount of crystal meth in the man’s system.
