Saskatchewan Reports 216 New Cases Of COVID-19, However, Removes 171 False Positive Tests

  • As of August 25th, there are 216 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, bringing the total to 52,845 reported cases
  • The new cases are located in the Far North West (5), Far North Central (1), Far North East (29), North West (19), North Central (21), North East (13), Saskatoon (80), Central West (6), Central East (5), Regina (8), South West (5), South Central (2) and South East (5) zones and 17 new cases have pending residence information
  • Thirteen (13) cases with pending location were assigned to Far North West (from Aug 23(3)), Far North Central (from Aug 23 (1)), Far North East (from Aug 18(1)), North West (from Aug 20(2) and Aug 23(1)), and North Central (from Aug 23(5)) zones
  • 171 false positive cases were removed from the case counts of all zones

  • 52,845 cases are confirmed
    • 12,536 cases are from the Saskatoon area
    • 12,387 cases are from the Regina area
    • 11,703 cases are from the North area (4,974 North West, 4,926 North Central, 1,803 North East)
    • 6,335 cases are from the Far North area (3,142 Far North West, 465 Far North Central, 2,728 Far North East)
    • 6,243 cases are from the South area (1,246 South West, 2,021 South Central, 2,976 South East)
    • 3,447 cases are from the Central area (894 Central West, 2,553 Central East)
    • 194 cases have pending residence information
  • 1,528 cases are considered active and 50,725 cases are considered recovered
  • About two-fifths (40.7%) of new cases are in the 20 to 39 years age category
  • Almost one-sixth (14.4%) of new cases were fully vaccinated
  • As of August 25th, a total of 108 individuals are hospitalized, including 88 inpatient hospitalizations and 20 ICU hospitalizations. Of the 108 patients, 77 (71.3%) were not fully vaccinated.
  • No (0) new deaths reported today. 592 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 have died, with a case fatality rate of 1.1%
  • 1,006,962 COVID-19 tests have been performed in the province. As of August 23, 2021, when other provincial and national numbers are available from PHAC, Saskatchewan’s per capita rate was 847,430 tests performed per million. The national rate was 1,052,615 tests performed per million.
  • The 7-day average of new COVID-19 case number was 172 (14.3 new cases per 100,000)
