A Carlyle man is the newest millionaire in Saskatchewan.
Richard Smillie won a million dollars by exactly matching all seven numbers on one of the 20 MAXMILLIONS prizes on the June 1st Lotto Max draw.
In a news release, he says he decided to check a stack of lottery tickets before taking a nap, and when he got to the winning ticket, he had to check it 3 times to make sure he was seeing the whole number.
At first he thought he won $10-thousand, checked again and thought it was $100-thousand, then checked a third time to see it was indeed $1-million.
He says he was shocked and “pretty exhausted” once he realized what he won.
After taking a nap, he thought about plans for the windfall, which he settled on putting it in the bank and seeing what the future holds.
