The governing Progressive Conservatives in Manitoba have chosen their new leader.
Heather Stefanson defeated rival Shelly Glover by less than 400 votes to win the party leadership, and by extension, becoming the province’s 24th Premier.
Stefanson will also become the first woman to be Premier of Manitoba, when she will be sworn in at a later date.
The leadership race was triggered in late-August when Brian Pallister announced he was stepping down.
Kelvin Goertzen was Premier on an interim basis.
