Manitoba’s Independent Investigation Unit has completed its investigation into a motor vehicle collision near Winnipegosis, between a police officer and a civilian.
On May 21 of this year, the officer was conducting traffic enforcement on Highway 20.
The officer activated their emergency lights and was completing a U-turn, when a collision occurred with another vehicle containing two occupants.
A woman was transported to Dauphin Hospital and was treated for a fractured rib and ankle.
The I-I-U determined “there are reasonable grounds to believe a provincial offence occurred under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA).”
As a result of the investigation, an officer has been issued a ticket for proceeding before it was safe to do so, and the matter is now before the courts.
