Big news in the Town of Ituna, as the Ituna Arena Cooperative kicks off a 3.8-million dollar building campaign to retrofit the Ituna Skating Arena.
The project will be done in two phases, with phase one beginning in the spring of 2022 and completed in November of the same year.
Phase one will see the old wooden structure replaced with a new, steel structure, while Phase two will see two new dressing rooms as well as a new Zamboni room and other improvements.
Financially, over 1-million dollars has been raised towards the project, including a 1-million dollar contribution from the Town itself.
Federal and Provincial grants have been applied for, however there is no word on the status of those grants.
