Charges laid in connection to report of an assault in the Manitoba R.M. of Kelsey

A 44-year-old man has been charged in relation to a report of an assault at a home in the R.M. of Kelsey early Saturday morning (Nov. 20).

When RCMP from The Pas arrived at the scene, they were told the suspect was inside the residence along with other adults and children, and was in possession of a firearm.

The victim of the alleged assault, a 21-year-old woman was found outside the residence with minor injuries but was treated by emergency personnel.

Mounties and the Manitoba First Nation Police Service contained the area, and after several hours of negotiation, the suspect exited the house and was arrested without incident.

No one inside the home was physically hurt, a firearm and ammunition were seized, and the accused, Jeremy Cook, was remanded into custody.

Offences Cook is facing include:

· Assault

· Uttering Threats

· Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose

· Possession of a Weapon when Possession if Unauthorized

· Unsafe Storage

· Fail to Comply with Release Order x 2

· Fail to Comply with Probation Order x2

· Use a Firearm in the Commission of an Offence

· Careless Storage of Ammunition
