Another increase in new COVID-19 cases in Manitoba today (Thurs), as 556 new infections were recorded, bringing the provincial total to 72,834.
Manitoba’s COVID-19 Dashboard can be found here.
355 of the new cases are in the Winnipeg Health Region, 62 in the Southern Health Region, 51 in the Prairie Mountain Health Region, 47 in the Northern Health Region, and 41 in the Interlake-Eastern Health Region.
By vaccination status, 440 of the new cases are fully-vaccinated, 84 unvaccinated, and 32 partially-vaccinated.
Total number of individuals in hospital with COVID-19 increased to 144, including 28 in intensive care, while 239 people recovered from the virus.
During Wednesday’s virtual COVID-19 news conference, Manitoba Deputy Chief Medical Health Officer Dr. Jazz Atwal said the increase in breakthrough cases could be attributed to exposure and waning immunity from the second vaccine dose.
One death was recorded on the dashboard for a total of 1,369.
Active cases of COVID-19 went up to 2,933; Prairie Mountain Health has 262 active cases.
There were 3,886 tests conducted in the province, and the test positivity rate, provincially, is at 10.9 percent.
Yesterday (Wed), Manitoba released its COVID-19 reporting schedule for the holiday season, which is below (note: Manitoba does not update the COVID-19 dashboard on Saturdays and Sundays).
