Sask Power has announced that yesterday evening due to the frigid temperatures, the province reached a new peak in power consumption.
Homes and businesses in Saskatchewan reached 3.868 megawatts in power use at around 5:30PM, which breaks record of just under 38-hundred megawatts from 4 years ago.
To meet growing power demand, SaskPower plans to expand its generation capacity from approximately 5,000 MW now to 7,000 MW by 2030.
