TERRIERS 3, RED WINGS 5
The Yorkton Terriers’ had their 6 game point streak come to an end on Tuesday night after a 5-3 loss to the Weyburn Red Wings.
The young Red Wings team got off to a quick start in the 1st as Cooper Chisholm would give the home-side an early 1-0 lead and then Jackson Hassman made it 2-0 for Weyburn after 1 period.
In the 2nd, they’d had to their lead as 16 year old Ty Mason was found back-door by Ethan Whillans on the powerplay just 3:40 in to make it 3-0, then just over 2 minutes later, Colby Feist sniped home his 2nd of the season to increase their lead to 4.
But before the middle framed end, the Terriers woke up as Steven Norum got the Terriers’ on the board by sniping over-top of the left shoulder for Jackson Fellner to make it 4-1, then 2:47 later JD Hall jumped on a rebound and chipped it into the empty-net for his 8th of the season to pull Yorkton back within two again at 4-2 through 40 minutes.
The Terriers with 5:43 to go in the 3rd would make it a one-goal game as Clay Sleeva’s cross-ice pass was re-directed in by Norum again for his 2nd of the night to make 4-3, but that’s as close as they would get as Ethan Whillans added the insurance late on the PP to close out the win.
Jackson Fellner turned aside 39 of 42 shots in the win for Weyburn in goal, while Bradley Mistol started for Yorkton and made 14 saves on 18 shots before he was relieved by Kael DePape who allowed one goal on 8 shots.
The Terriers’ will return to the ice on Friday night when they begin a weekend trip in La Ronge against the Ice Wolves
