MILLIONIRES 3, NORTH STARS 4
The Melville Millionaires kicked-off their 3 game weekend roadie with a 4-3 loss to the Battefords North Stars.
The North Stars got off to a quick start as Keiton Klein jumped on a loose puck in front and tucked it by Jared Thompson for his 2nd of the season to make it 1-0 just 72 seconds in.
Battlefords added to their lead late in the period with two goals just 63 seconds apart off the sticks of Tynan Ewart and Zane Florence to increase their lead to 3-0 after 1 period.
In the 2nd, just like the first period it would be Klein adding to the North Stars lead just 1:12 into the period with his 2nd of the night to make it 4-1.
But the Millionaires would then respond just over 6 minutes later as just 8 seconds into the powerplay, Nicolas Samson took a nice feed in front from Louis-Frederic Theberge and snapped it by Loewen Kenyon for his 9th of the year to cut their deficit once again at three after 40 minutes.
In the 3rd, the Mills cut it within two once again on the PP as Charles-Thomas Larochelle’s centerting pass went off a leg in front and passed the North Stars’ goalie to make it 4-2.
Then with 3:31 to go, Nicolas Samson scored a highlight reel spin-o-rama goal sneaking it through Kenyon for his 2nd of the night to make it a one goal game but that’s as close as they would get.
Loewen Kenyon made 30 saves for Battlefords’ to get the win, while Jared Thompson started for Melville allowing 4 goals on 18 shots before pulled for Alexis Giroux who stopped all 23 shots he faced in relief.
The Mills’ continue their road-trip on Saturday visiting the Kindersley Klippers, while North Stars visit the Humboldt Broncos.
