Stampeders stage huge comeback for victory in Steinbach on Friday

The Swan Valley Stampeders used a big 2nd-half comeback en-route to a 5-4 victory last night (Fri) on the road to the Steinbach Pistons.

The Pistons got out to a 4-0 lead into the early part of the 2nd on goals by Quinton Pepper, Langley Kruggel, Dawson Milliken and Cooper Rice, but the Stamps responded with three of their own in the second frame from Cody Barnes, Deepkaran Hans (1st as a Stamp) and Trey Sauder to cut their deficit to just one after 2 periods.

Barnes scored his 14th of the season, just 3:35 into the 3rd period to tie the game and force the extra period.

In the shootout, Hans scored the shootout winner to help his new team get the two points.

Stamps’ G Kobe Grant made 31 saves on 35 shots to get the win, while Will Hambley made 34 saves for the Pistons in the shootout loss.

The two teams will meet once again on Saturday from the T.G Smith Center starting at 7:30PM.
