Sask. COVID-19 Update for Sunday: 252 in hospital, 969 recoveries, no new deaths, 1,629 new cases

  • As of January 23nd, there are 1,629 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, bringing the total to 109,484 reported cases.

  • The new cases are located in the Far North West (19), Far North Central (4), Far North East (22), North West (62), North Central (122), North East (36), Saskatoon (452), Central West (43), Central East (119), Regina (358), South West (48), South Central (57), and South East (131) zones; 156 new cases have pending residence information.
  • Of the 1,629 new cases reported today, 298 were unvaccinated or fewer than 21 days after their first dose, 81 had received their first dose or were less than 21 days from their second dose, 870 were fully vaccinated (more than 14 days since their second dose) and 380 were fully vaccinated and more than 14 days from receiving their booster dose.
  • 91 cases with pending residence information were assigned to the Far North West (5), Far North East (2), North West (18), North Central (11), North East (3), Saskatoon (30), Central West (1), Central East (3), Regina (13), South West (2), and South East (3) zones.
  • 13 SK residents tested out-of-province were added to the Saskatoon (6), Central East (4), Regina (2), and South East (1) zones.
  • 109,484 cases are confirmed:
    • 28,057 cases are from the Saskatoon area
    • 23,513 cases are from the North area (10,257 North West, 9,789 North Central, 3,467 North East)
    • 23,102 cases are from the Regina area
    • 14,431 cases are from the South area (2,990 South West, 4,246 South Central, 7,195 South East
    • 10,184 cases are from the Far North area (4,811 Far North West, 582 Far North Central, 4,791 Far North East)
    • 8,682 cases are from the Central area (2,003 Central West, 6,679 Central East)
    • 1,515 cases have pending residence information
  • 13,290 cases are considered active and 95,222 cases are considered recovered.
  • Less than two-fifths (36.9%) of new cases are in the age category of 20 to 39.
  • As of January 23rd, a total of 252 individuals are hospitalized; including 226 inpatient hospitalizations, and 26 ICU hospitalizations. Of the 252 patients, 91 (36.1%) were not fully vaccinated.
  • The SHA dashboard includes 252 hospitalizations: 226 residents are inpatient: of those, 92 inpatient hospitalizations are a COVID-19 – related illness, 98 are incidental COVID infections, and 36 have not yet been determined. 24 residents are in ICUs: of those, 19 are for COVID-19 – related illnesses, 4 are for incidental COVID infections, and 1 is undetermined. 2 residents are in PICU/NICU: 1 is a COVID-19 – related illnesses, and 1 incidental COVID infection.
  • No (0) new deaths reported today. 972 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 have died with a case fatality rate of 0.9%.
  • 1,411,906 COVID-19 tests have been performed in the province. As of January 19, 2022, when other provincial and national numbers are available from PHAC, Saskatchewan’s per capita rate was 1,180,087 tests performed per million population. The national rate was 1,453,815 tests performed per million population.
  • The 7-day average of new COVID-19 case numbers was 1,320 (109.5 new cases per 100,000).
