Saskatchewan Announced 1,083 New Cases Of COVID-19, 1,236 Recoveries, 2 Deaths

  • As of January 29th, there are 1,083 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, bringing the total to 116,511 reported cases.
  • The new cases are located in the Far North West (6), Far North Central (2), Far North East (34), North West (52), North Central (110), North East (29), Saskatoon (273), Central West (31), Central East (89), Regina (156), South West (40), South Central (64), and South East (57) zones and 140 new cases have pending residence information.
  • Of the 1,083 new cases reported today, 219 were unvaccinated or fewer than 21 days after their first dose, 41 had received their first dose or were less than 21 days from their second dose, 529 were fully vaccinated (more than 14 days since their second dose) and 294 were fully vaccinated and more than 14 days from receiving their booster dose.
  • 108 cases with pending residence information were assigned to the Far North West (2), Far North East (1), North West (14), North Central (43), North East (3), Saskatoon (29), Central West (2), Central East (3), Regina (2), South West (3), and South East (6) zones. Details of reassignments are included in a one time table included at the end of the report.
  • 21 SK residents tested out-of-province were added to the North Central (1), Saskatoon (6), Regina (12), and South Central (1) zones. Details of additions are included in a one time table included at the end of the report.
  • Two (2) non out-of-province were added to the case counts with a pending residence location from January 23, 2022.

  • 116,511 cases are confirmed
    • 30,144 cases are from the Saskatoon area
    • 24,671 cases are from the North area (10,727 North West, 10,323 North Central, 3,621 North East)
    • 24,577 cases are from the Regina area
    • 15,526 cases are from the South area (3,201 South West, 4,649 South Central, 7,676 South East)
    • 10,411 cases are from the Far North area (4,884 Far North West, 593 Far North Central, 4,934 Far North East)
    • 9,393 cases are from the Central area (2,166 Central West, 7,227 Central East)
    • 1,789 cases have pending residence information
  • 12,553 cases are considered active and 102,969 cases are considered recovered.
  • Just over one-third (34.5%) of new cases are in the age category of 20 to 39.
  • As of January 29th, a total of 340 individuals are hospitalized; including 304 inpatient hospitalizations, and 36 ICU hospitalizations. Of the 340 patients, 112 (32.9%) were not fully vaccinated.
  • The SHA dashboard includes 340 hospitalizations:
    • 304 residents are inpatient: of those, 124 inpatient hospitalizations are a COVID-19-related illness, 160 are incidental COVID-19 infections, and 20 have not yet been determined.
    • 36 residents are in ICUs: of those, 30 are for COVID-19-related illnesses, and five (5) are for incidental COVID-19 infections. One (1) resident is in PICU/NICU for COVID-19-related illness.
  • Two (2) new deaths reported today. A total of 989 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 have died with a case fatality rate of 0.8%.
  • 1,432,881 COVID-19 tests have been performed in the province. As of January 27, 2022, when other provincial and national numbers are available from PHAC, Saskatchewan’s per capita rate was 1,204,072 tests performed per million. The national rate was 1,470,417 tests performed per million population.
  • The 7-day average of new COVID-19 case numbers was 1,230 (102.1 new cases per 100,000).
