Sask. COVID-19 Update: total hospitalizations up to 370, 661 new cases, 1 death

  • As of February 1st, there are 661 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, bringing the total to 119,272 reported cases.

  • The new cases are located in the Far North West (19), Far North Central (3), Far North East (13), North West (25), North Central (39), North East (13), Saskatoon (154), Central West (16), Central East (31), Regina (193), South West (22), South Central (25) and South East (22) zones and 86 new cases have pending residence information.
  • Of the 661 new cases reported today, 109 were unvaccinated or fewer than 21 days after their first dose, 27 had received their first dose or were less than 21 days from their second dose, 300 were fully vaccinated (more than 14 days since their second dose) and 225 were fully vaccinated and more than 14 days from receiving their booster dose.
  • 135 cases with pending residence information were assigned to the Far North West (2), Far North East (4), North West (34), North Central (45), Saskatoon (13), Central West (1), Central East (5), Regina (21), South West (1), South Central (6), and South East (3) zones. Details of reassignments are included in a one time table included at the end of the report.
  • 5 SK residents tested out-of-province were added to the North West (from January 29 (1)), Saskatoon (from January 29 (1)), Regina (from January 28 (1), January 29 (2)) zones.
  • 119,272 cases are confirmed:
    • 30,973 cases are from the Saskatoon area
    • 25,287 cases are from the Regina area
    • 25,176 cases are from the North area (10,889 North West, 10,614 North Central, 3,673 North East)
    • 15,923 cases are from the South area (3,285 South West, 4,803 South Central, 7,835 South East)
    • 10,488 cases are from the Far North area (4,923 Far North West, 600 Far North Central, 4,965 Far North East)
    • 9,665 cases are from the Central area (2,242 Central West, 7,423 Central East)
    • 1,760 cases have pending residence information
  • 11,370 cases are considered active and 106,909 cases are considered recovered.
  • Almost two-fifths (38.3%) of new cases are in the age category of 20 to 39.
  • As of February 1st, a total of 370 individuals are hospitalized, including 331 inpatient hospitalizations and 39 ICU hospitalizations. Of the 370 patients, 114 (30.8%) were not fully vaccinated.
  • The SHA dashboard includes 370 hospitalizations:
    • 331 residents are inpatient: of those, 137 inpatient hospitalizations are a COVID-19-related illness, 169 are incidental COVID infections, and 25 have not yet been determined.
    • 39 residents are in ICUs: of those, 32 are for COVID-19-related illnesses, and six (6) are for incidental COVID infections. One (1) resident is in PICU/NICU undetermined.
  • One (1) new deaths reported today. A total of 993 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 have died, with a case fatality rate of 0.8%.
  • 1,440,525 COVID-19 tests have been performed in the province. As of January 30, 2022, when other provincial and national numbers are available from PHAC, Saskatchewan’s per capita rate was 1,213,691 tests performed per million. The national rate was 1,474,398 tests performed per million.
  • The 7-day average of new COVID-19 case numbers was 1,105 (91.7 new cases per 100,000).
