A company that extracts natural gas on Carry the Kettle Nakoda Nation’s reserve lands is being evicted, after owing roughly $335 thousand in property tax to the First Nation, and $90 thousand to Indian Oil and Gas Canada. Abbey Resources Corporation is in the process of restructuring, and had sought creditor protection. The Chief and Council rejected a recent proposal by the company to amend its lease agreements, and reduce its monetary obligations.
