There are several service and volunteer clubs in the town of Preeceville.
Mayor Ralph Ager says that many of them run during the winter, including Preeceville Minor Hockey, the Preeceville Figure Skating Club and Nordic Cross-country Ski Club.
The Figure Skating Club will hold its annual Skating Carnival on March 27, beginning at 2 p.m.
Cross country ski trails at Annie Laurie Lake are maintained by the Preeceville Lions Family Trail Club, which also maintains the walking trails at Annie Laurie Lake during the summer, while the Preeceville Curling Club also runs during the winter.
Ager noted the Preeceville Roughrider Snowmobile Club has been busy this winter grooming trails with all the snowfall this season, adding the Club has over 277 kilometres of groomed trails.
Ager says some take place during the summer months, including the Preeceville Lions Club which runs the Chase the Ace Lottery as well as overseeing the annual Western Day weekend in the summer.
He also highlighted Preeceville Minor Ball and its Sports Grounds Committee that oversees the sports grounds; he says the Preeceville Wildlife Club maintains the RV park and campground on the north end of town, and has a silent auction at the beginning of April.
