Fundraising for medical trauma kits to be shipped to Ukraine

The founders of the “Ambulances to Ukraine” project in 2016, which sent 14 ambulances from Canada to Ukraine, has found a new way to support the war-torn country. One of the organizers, Dave Dutchak, says the medical community and Ukrainian authorities have reached out globally as medical equipment and supplies are running low, so they are raising funds to ship 500 fully stocked field trauma kits to Ukraine, which include things like gauze and bandages, blood pressure cuffs, and anything else needed to deal with things like shrapnel injuries.

The organizers wanted something very tangible and very specific to connect the people of Saskatchewan with the people of Ukraine. The trauma kits cost $500 each and the goal is to raise funds for 500 of them, with donations from individuals, families and businesses.

Dutchak is a Past Chair of the Saskatchewan and Greater Saskatoon Chambers of Commerce. He urges all Chambers and Businesses to consider supporting the war in Ukraine by purchasing a trauma kit. The founders of “Ambulances to Ukraine, the Ukrainian Canadian Congress of Saskatchewan, Saskatchewan Ukraine Relations Advisory Committee, SANDS Medical of Brockville, Ontario, the Dutchak-St. Onge-Woytiuk Families and Chambers of Commerce across the province are asking for donations for the Sask-Ukraine TK-500 project.
