A Lengthy Jail Term For A Sask. Man Guilty On 9 Charges

One of four people charged following a violent crime spree in the Punnichy area in May 2019, has been sentenced to jail time. Police say a man was struck by a vehicle, then shot, on the Muskowekwan First Nation. The next day, an altercation on the Piapot First Nation led to one victim being struck with a machete, and the other being chased to the Muscowpetung First Nation. 29-year-old Derek Pasap pleaded guilty March 10th in Regina Court of Queen’s Bench to 9 charges, including two counts of Attempted Murder, and a separate Manslaughter charge, in connection with the May 2019 death of Isaiah Akachuk in Regina. He was sentenced to 25 years in prison, less time served.
