Sask. RCMP turning to the water in active search for missing 5-year-old boy

The Saskatchewan R-C-M-P says it will be switching its focus to the water in efforts to find a missing five-year-old Red Earth Cree Nation boy.

Inspector Murray Chamberlin says 92 square kilometres including Red Earth Creek and its surrounding area have been searched in an attempt to find Frank Young. Police have searched 92 square kilometres around the community so far.

“Now that we have extensively searched the community and the area around it, and that given the ice on the Carrot River is now broken up, we will now focus on the water,” Chamberlin said. “Over the next few days, the Saskatchewan RCMP will be using boats and other methods to search the Carrot River for any sign of Frank.”

Young was last seen by his family about noon on April 19th on the reserve.

Chamberlin says efforts to find the boy will continue until officers are confident they’ve done everything they can.
