Yorkton Exhibition Association makes major event announcement

The Yorkton Exhibition Association announced the return of the Yorkton Hyundai Thunder in the Parkland Truck and Tractor Pulls, presented by Yorkton Home Hardware.
It will be on Friday and Saturday, June 17 and 18 at the Yorkton Exhibition Grounds, and will feature vintage pulls at 5 p.m., Thunder in the Parkland at 6:15 p.m. and a cabaret dance to follow both nights.
“Just really excited,” event committee member Larry Hillworth said. “We’re going to have lots of tractors and lots of modified tractors, mini-tractors, and we got mini-modified tractors that together with the driver it can weigh 2,050 pounds, and these are upwards of 3,000 horsepower so just tremendous power.”
Hillworth added all the pullers are excited to come to Yorkton and put on a good show for attendees.
“Not only do they go out and try to win – I mean that’s the object – but it’s more important to them to put on a good show for the people that are paying their hard-earned money to buy a seat to sit in this great grandstand to watch it.”
Yorkton Hyundai is of course the title sponsor for the event, and Dealer Principal Ron Kaban says it was a no-brainer to support it once again, especially with the success of last year’s event.
“Thank goodness for Hyundai Canada also stepping up as a corporation. They like to see us being involved with the community as much as possible. They like to see us being corporate sponsors in things that are family-orientated, so being that the tractor pulls is something that a 4-year-old can come to right up to senior, that’s why we’re involved with it because it is a family event.”
When asked about which tractor pull he was looking forward to, Kaban said the vintage.
“I like the old John Deere’s…they’re so cool.”
Advance tickets go on sale this Friday at the Yorkton Exhibition office and at Yorkton Hyundai. More information can be found at www.yorktonexhibition.com or calling the Yorkton Exhibition office at (306) 783-4800.
