Rainfall warning remains for eastern Saskatchewan, special weather statements for western Manitoba

Much of the rain forecast for the Parkland Region will fall during the overnight hours.

Phil Spevak with Precision Weather says a developing low pressure system with thunderstorms could dump between 35-50 mm of rain or more in a short period of time, along with gusty winds, adding some areas could get as much as 60-65 mm.

Spevak says it’s expected to start late tonight (Thurs) through tomorrow morning (Fri).

“And by 8, 9 o’clock most of the heavier stuff is over with, so that’s 10 hours or so, and that’s a lot of heavy rain in that stretch.” Spevak said while also noting there could be additional showers tomorrow afternoon.

Some areas under the rainfall warning include: Yorkton, Melville, Fort Qu’Appelle, Wadena, Foam Lake, Saltcoats, Esterhazy, Grenfell, Indian Head, and Wynyard.

Special weather statements remain for Dauphin, Russell, Roblin, Swan River, The Pas, Minnedosa, and Hudson Bay.
