New court date set for accused in October 2020 assault near Regina

One of two people charged following an attempted murder dating back to the fall of 2020, has made another court appearance.

In October of 2020, Mounties say the victim met three people at a Regina nightclub, before leaving with them in a vehicle.

The victim was then allegedly beaten, tortured and robbed, before being left unconscious and seriously injured, in a field north of Fort Qu’Appelle.

The trial for 25-year-old Austin Severight, of the Yellow Quill First Nation, wrapped up on April 21st, and he remains in custody, with his next appearance in Regina Court set for tomorrow (THURS).

Last month, his co-accused, 25-year-old Jenna Hoffman of Wadena, was handed a lengthy jail sentence, after admitting to three charges, including Aggravated Assault.
