One person is dead after a train derailed about three kilometres west of Edgeley.

CN crews and RCMP from Fort Qu’Appelle, Indian Head and White Butte responded to the scene, about one kilometre north of Highway 364.

The investigation determined there was a collision at a level crossing between the train and a road maintenance vehicle, causing 18 railcars to derail.

The driver of the vehicle, a 57-year-old male from the RM of Lajord was pronounced dead at the scene.
