There are five forest fires burning in Saskatchewan, with one near Stony Rapids not contained. In addition to fire crews on the ground, the province has deployed heavy equipment, helicopters and air tanker support. Environment Canada has issued a special air quality statement for Candle Lake, Lac La Ronge and Narrow Hills Provincial Parks as a plume of smoke continues to create locally poor air quality. There have been 115 fires to date in the province and the five year average for wild fires at this time of year is 124.
