There was a two-vehicle collision, near Minnedosa, that involved a marked RCMP cruiser.
On Saturday morning (Aug. 6), the officer was travelling westbound on Highway 16 and approaching a stop sign at the intersection of Highways 10 and 16, when they were struck by an SUV.
Initial investigation determined the SUV, northbound on Highway 10, was taking the yield east onto Highway 16, but took the turn too fast, crossing the divided line, hitting the cruiser.
The driver of the SUV, a 16-year-old girl from Brandon, and the officer both received non life-threatening injuries and were treated and released from hospital. The investigation is ongoing.
