SaskPower offering money saving tips to stay cool

SaskPower is again offering tips to save money while staying cool as another wave of hot weather is coming through the province.
The provincial power company reminds folks to make sure both your furnace and air conditioner are working properly and have them inspected regularly by a licensed professional.
Another tip is investing in a programmable or smart thermostat to heat or cool your home when needed. SaskPower says for every degree that air conditioning is lowered for an eight-hour period, customers could save up to two per cent on power costs.

They recommend closing all windows and doors tightly, and ensure that blinds and window coverings are closed during the day to keep the heat out.

As well, delay activities that produce heat and moisture, such as dishwashing or laundry, until later in the day or evening when temperatures are cooler.
More information can be found on SaskPower’s website.
