Yorkton Business Improvement District’s Clean Sweep Program is seeing some changes this year.
SaskAbilities will be providing staffing for the program, which Program Manager Jackie Washenfelder notes happened after YBID approached them with the possibility.
“They were looking for a new agency to take it on and so we’re always up for new initiatives and partnerships. They came and asked our regional director for a meeting, and we met and said we will absolutely make this happen.” said SaskAbilities Program Manager Jackie Washenfelder.
YBID also provided SaskAbilities with 10-thousand dollars to take on the program.
“We looked at the budget, crunched some numbers, we liked the philosophy of providing employment for people; we have partners in employment that is a part of SaskAbilities, so we have all the structures in place to be able to support initiatives like this so its definitely a great fit.” Washenfelder added.
YBID Executive Director Donna Brothwell says SaskAbilities started working on the streets about 3 weeks ago.
The Clean Sweep Program is entering its 10th year. SIGN in Yorkton previously provided staffing for the program.
