Manitoba To Recognize September 19th

Manitoba is recognizing September 19th as a day of mourning to honour Queen Elizabeth the Second.

All non-essential government services and offices will be closed for the day, however, schools and child-care facilities will remain open and the health-care system will continue to operate as usual.

A 21-gun salute will take place on the south grounds of the Legislative Building to coincide with the federal memorial service in Ottawa, which will then be followed by a Royal Gun Salute of 96 rounds to honour each year of Queen Elizabeth’s life.

A provincial memorial service is schedule for 7pm at St John’s Anglican Cathedral in Winnipeg, which is held by invitation only.
