Early Child Learning In Saskatchewan To Receive More Funding

The province of Saskatchewan is teaming up with Ottawa, to help child care centres recruit and retain Early Childhood Educators (ECE’s).

A total of 5.4 million dollars in federal and provincial money will go toward providing wage enhancement grants of up to two dollars an hour, aimed at improving compensation for certified ECE’s, while developing a wage grid for them, to be put in place by the province by the end of 2022-23.

The funding is provided through the Canada-Saskatchewan Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care Agreement, in which the goal is to provide quality early learning and child care centres, while building a skilled workforce of ECE’s in the province.
