Saskatchewan had a strong July in a few areas indicating economic growth

Saskatchewan had strong numbers in a few key indicators of economic growth for the month of July.

Numbers from Statistics Canada show Saskatchewan had the biggest increase in investment in building construction among the nation at 81.8 percent, well above the national average of 14.7 percent.

Wholesale trade jumped 72 percent in July 2022 compared to July the previous year, also the highest among the provinces and above the national average of 12.9 percent.

Saskatchewan had the second highest increase among the provinces in manufacturing sales in July, at 26.8 percent compared to last July. The province was also second in month-over-month manufacturing sales growth with an increase of 4.5 percent.

In August this year, urban housing starts in Saskatchewan increased by 35.6 percent compared to last August, the second highest increase among provinces.
