All Saskatchewan residents 18-and-up will be eligible for the Moderna bivalent booster Thursday

Starting tomorrow (Thurs), Saskatchewan residents 18-years and older will be eligible for Moderna’s bivalent booster shot.

It will be available through Saskatchewan Health Authority booked and walk-in clinics and/or participating pharmacies.

Health officials recommend eligible people receive the booster dose at least 4 months following their last COVID-19 vaccination, regardless of how many doses received to date.

However, if you need your first or second dose, there’s other Health-Canada approved vaccines available as the primary series.

The Health Authority notes when booking an appointment online for an SHA clinic, you’re not required to specify which vaccine you wish to receive as the option of the bivalent vaccine will be provided to eligible individuals in the clinic at the time of vaccination.

The SHA adds if you’re booking an appointment through the 1-833-Sask-Vax line, you can book several vaccinations in a single appointment for everyone in the household who is 6-months and older.

The booster shot was developed to protect against the original COVID-19 strain as well as the Omicron variant.
