A fire on a semi hauling large rolls of paper along highway 1 saw the Whitewood Fire Department respond. Crews were called out about 1:30, and spent some 4 and a half hours on scene. Fire crews from Wapella also responded, and helped deal with a grass fire started by the original blaze. There’s no word on the cause, but no injuries were reported.
