A member of the Sapotaweyak Cree Nation has been appointed Manitoba’s new Advocate for Children and Youth.
Sherry Gott has masters and bachelor of social work degrees from the University of Manitoba, and is a registered social worker.
As a social worker, she has worked in various capacities from front-line worker, supervisor and senior manager in the social service systems in child welfare, education and mental health.
A news release from the province noted she was awarded and recognized by the Aboriginal Social Work Society of Manitoba for “significant contribution to the field of Aboriginal Social Work” in 2011.
Gott begins her new role October 17th.
