Saskatchewan RCMP participating in Operation Impact this Thanksgiving long weekend

Saskatchewan RCMP will be joining other police forces across Canada in Operation Impact this Thanksgiving long weekend.

It’s an annual initiative to increase road safety by focusing on the big four contributing factors of serious and fatal collisions.

Those 4 are impaired driving, distracted driving, aggressive driving, and not wearing a seatbelt or wearing one incorrectly.

The RCMP also remind everyone to be respectful on the road, so use your turn signals, don’t tailgate and pass other cars safely in prescribed areas; give yourself time to get where you’re going; ensure everyone in the vehicle is buckled up; have a designated driver or plan to take a cab or transit if you plan on consuming products which result in impairment, such as alcohol or cannabis, and if no safe ride is available, stay the night and drive only when sober; and if you notice a suspected impaired driver, pull over immediately and call 911.
